Accessing the Crimson 3.1 System Console

Accessing the Crimson 3.1 System Console
Things don’t always go perfectly, and sometimes you need a way to just start things over. In this Tech Tip, we will show you how to access the system console in Crimson 3.1 for those times when things aren’t quite going right.

These instructions are currently valid for Red Lion's Graphite Edge Controller and the DA10/DA30 data acquisition units (Data Station).

On the hardware side the instructions are as follows for the two units:

Edge controller:
  1. Connect the Controller to the PC running Crimson 3.1 via a USB cable
  2. Press and hold the factory reset button located at the centre bottom of the front panel of the device
  3. apply power to the device
  4. Continue holding the reset button until the until the green LED starts blinking twice a second

DA10/30:
  1. Connect the Controller to the PC running Crimson 3.1 via a USB cable
  2. Press and hold the factory reset button
  3. apply power to the device
  4. Continue holding the reset button until the until the green LED turns solid and the red and blue LEDs begin blinking twice a second.

Next we need to go into the program and launch the Crimson console using the following steps:
  1. Select Link>Options in the top menu bar
  2. Select communications port “USB” and click ok
  3. Select Link>System Console and you should see the below image
  4. Carry out your desired actions. You can either set the network details of the device or clear the database if something in the existing database is causing it to crash.
  5. Select “Close and Restart” to apply the new settings and restart the controller.

Now you’ve given yourself a blank slate to work with and can iron out that pesky issue that caught you last time.
